Who is on the other end of the phone

OnPoint Pro Doors is a family-run garage door company working out of Brooklyn, with technicians on the road across the five boroughs, Long Island and the north Jersey towns across the river. The number on this page rings through to dispatch at any hour, and the technician who arrives is one of ours, in a marked vehicle, with the parts for the common repairs already on board.

We have closed more than three thousand garage door jobs in the New York area. Most of them were springs, cables, openers and doors that had come off their track. A good share were on attached garages under rowhouses, where the door is really a house door and a night with it stuck open is a long night.

Every visit starts with a look at the door and a straight answer about what it needs. The estimate is free, and you hear the number before we start. Nothing is decided on the phone by somebody who has not seen the door.

Who runs it

Sean Cohen, owner. On Point Pro Doors is his company: the dispatch line, the technicians and the pages on this site, including the 40-city garage door search study, are his responsibility. Questions about the work or the research go to him through the number at the top of the page.

How a call with us goes

You describe what the door is doing. If it's urgent, a door stuck open or a car shut in, say so and it goes to the front of the list. The dispatcher gives you a real arrival window, and the technician calls before setting off.

On site, the fault is confirmed on the door before anything is touched. You hear what it is and what the fix involves. If you decide not to go ahead, that is the end of it.

The common parts travel with us: springs in the usual sizes, cables, drums, rollers, hinges, bottom brackets, opener gears, photo eyes and remotes. Most repairs are finished on the first visit.

What we will not do

We'll not diagnose a door over the phone and we will not sell you a replacement before the panels have been looked at. Anyone who leads with a new door without seeing yours is selling, not diagnosing.

We'll not run a door with a failed spring or cable just to prove it moves. Every extra cycle on a door with a broken counterbalance loads hinges, brackets and panels that were never meant to carry it, and turns a one-part repair into a bigger one.

We'll not quietly swap the brand of hardware that suits your door for whatever is on the shelf. Springs are matched by wire gauge, diameter and length to the door's weight, and an opener is repaired before it's replaced.

Where the reviews are

Our reviews live on Google, where nobody can edit them. Read the OnPoint Pro Doors reviews on Google before you call, and add your own afterwards if the job went the way it should.

We serve Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Manhattan and Long Island, plus Jersey City, Hoboken and the nearby Hudson County towns. If you're close to any of those, call and we confirm it on the phone.
