How an Installation Works

Every installation starts with a free on-site estimate. A tech measures the opening, checks the headroom and side clearance, inspects the framing, and looks at your existing springs, track and opener. You get a written quote on the spot — the price covers the door, removal and haul-away of the old door, new track and springs sized to the new door's weight, balancing, and a full safety test. There is no charge for the visit and no obligation.

On install day, a typical single- or double-car residential door takes 3 to 5 hours. We remove the old door and hardware, set the new panels, install fresh track and torsion springs matched to the door weight, hang and connect the opener, set the travel limits and safety-reverse, and walk you through everything before we leave. The work is covered by a written workmanship warranty, and the door itself carries the manufacturer's warranty.

Door Types We Install

Steel sectional doors are the workhorse for NYC and Long Island homes — durable, low-maintenance, and available in dozens of panel styles and colors. Insulated steel doors add a foam core that cuts street noise and keeps an attached garage noticeably warmer in January; for row houses and attached garages in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, insulation is usually worth it. Carriage-house doors give Tudor and colonial homes in Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester the swing-door look with modern overhead operation. Glass and aluminum doors suit modern builds and shopfronts. For businesses we install commercial sectional and high-cycle doors rated for daily heavy use.

We install Clopay, Amarr and Wayne Dalton doors, and can pair the new door with a LiftMaster, Chamberlain or Genie opener in the same visit — replacing a 15-year-old opener while the crew is already on site is cheaper than a separate appointment later.

Repair It or Replace It?

An honest installer talks you out of a new door when a repair will do. One broken spring, a snapped cable, a bent section of track — those are repairs, and they cost a fraction of a new door. Replacement is the right call when: the panels are rusted through or rotted at the bottom; the door has been hit and the frame is racked; parts for the model are discontinued; the door has no safety-reverse and predates modern standards; or you have already sunk money into two or more major repairs. If you are not sure, the free estimate answers it — the tech will quote you both the repair and the replacement so you can compare real numbers.

Where We Install

All five boroughs — Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island — plus Nassau County, Suffolk County, Westchester, and North Jersey including Jersey City, Hoboken and Bergen County.

Installing in NYC Is Its Own Skill

City installs come with constraints suburban crews do not deal with: tight shared driveways where a delivery truck cannot stage, attached garages where the new track has to thread around sprinkler lines and conduit, low-headroom basements garages in brownstones that need special hardware, and co-op or condo buildings with an alteration process. We handle the building coordination — scheduling with supers and management, working inside approved hours — and for co-ops we recommend reading our co-op approval timeline guide before you order, so board lead time does not stall your install.

Installation FAQ

Do you charge for the installation estimate?

No. Every estimate is free. A tech comes out, measures, checks framing, springs and opener, and leaves a written quote. No charge to come look, no obligation.

How long does an installation take?

Most residential installs finish in 3 to 5 hours, in one visit, including removal and haul-away of the old door. Custom and commercial doors are scheduled in advance.

Should I repair or replace?

One failed part: repair. Rotted or rusted panels, racked frame, discontinued parts, or repeated major repairs: replace. The free estimate quotes both options.

What brands do you install?

Clopay, Amarr and Wayne Dalton doors; LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie openers.

Can you install in a co-op or condo?

Yes — we coordinate with building management and work within the alteration process. Start board approval before ordering the door.

Are insulated doors worth it here?

For attached garages in NYC and Long Island, usually yes — less noise, less heat loss. We quote insulated and non-insulated versions so you can compare.
